Our caterpillars have all found a spot to make their cocoons. Some of them were working hard today. It is truly amazing!
What a great field trip today! We started by glow bowling in Provost. Everyone enjoyed touring the back of the bowling alley and seeing how all the equipment works. Thanks to Patricia and Val who served us lunch after bowling. Then we were off to Reel Entertainment movie theatre. We enjoyed the movie “Bad Guys”, some delicious theatre popcorn and a drink. Thanks to Carol and Jaxi for the great service and special prizes at the theatre. Thanks to all the wonderful New Brigden parents for driving our kids, participating in the bowling, and making the day a great success. ❤️Thanks also to Mrs. Lorrie Thornton Tye for helping to organize the field trip, and Ms. Sandy Sawatzky for helping supervise.
Students all helped to move the caterpillars, as we set up our habitat for our Monarch butterflies. Everyone is so excited to watch the metamorphosis into butterflies.
K/1/2 had a great fieldtrip to Oyen today. We started off at the Oyen Greenhouse. We learned how they plant the seeds, and how the plants get watered. We even got to watch the huge dirt machine in action. We loved all the beautiful plants. We each got to bring home a plant as well. Thanks to Bill for letting Bobbi-Jo and Kim take us on the tour. Next we visited the ATB where Sam and Daina toured us around. We saw how they count money, went inside the vault and even got to open a safe where we found some yummy treats. We may have even set off the alarm. Thanks ladies. Our next stop was to the firestation. We were met there by Paul who toured us through the many trucks. He told us the cost of one of the trucks was $650,000. We also saw lots of equipment and even got to try some things on. Lastly we stopped at the TD Bank where Paris showed us around. We saw the safety deposit boxes in their vault. She also showed us what the backside of their ATM looked like. It was very interesting. Thanks to Assumption School for letting us use their playground to blow off a little steam in between stops. Lastly we enjoyed a Subway lunch before returning to NBS. Thanks Mrs. Sandy Sawatzky for supervising with Mrs. Lorrie Thornton Tye, who also drove the bus. Great day!!
Happy Mother’s Day All! Grade 2-4 students were so excited to take home their special cards and portraits they drew of their mothers. They also had hot pads crocheted by Jean Thornton (Granny Goose) who made one for each student to give to their moms. The K’s and Grade 1’s made some very potted plants for their moms. The butterflies on each pot made from their fingerprints. Great job everyone! ❤️
Our Grade 3-4 students wrote a friendly letter to 11 seniors at the Oyen Senior Lodge in hopes of brightening their day.
